ISLAMABAD, Aug 10 (APP):Archbishop of Rawalpindi-Islamabad, Dr. Joseph Arshad, has emphasized the importance of upholding constitutional rights, religious freedom and equality for all citizens in Pakistan, noting that ensuring equal opportunities without discrimination was a shared national responsibility.
In his message on National Minorities Day, the Archbishop said Pakistan was the common homeland of all its people and that minorities continue to contribute to the country’s development, prosperity and stability.
He described the day as an opportunity to reaffirm commitments to religious tolerance, harmony, mutual respect and interfaith understanding.
Highlighting the role of the Christian community, the Archbishop said its contributions in education, health, defense and social welfare since Pakistan’s creation had been significant.
He added that the principles of equal rights and religious freedom articulated by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah remained a guiding framework for an inclusive society.
“Religious harmony and tolerance are essential for a peaceful and progressive society,” he said, calling for collective efforts to promote understanding and cooperation among all communities.
The Archbishop noted that protecting minority rights reflected both Pakistan’s constitutional values and its broader commitment to social cohesion.
He urged all religious communities to work together toward the country’s continued development and progress.
On the occasion, Arshad offered prayers for the security, stability, peace and prosperity of Pakistan, and for the well-being and unity of all its citizens.
