Health Minister lauds collaboration to establish modern 10-bed Children’s Emergency Unit at Sheikh Zayed hospital
ISLAMABAD, Aug 10 (APP):Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Mustafa Kamal appreciated the agreement between Sheikh Zayed Institute and ChildLife Foundation for the establishment of a modern Children’s Emergency Unit.
He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held at the Ministry for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two sides in this regard.
Federal Secretary Health Aslam Ghauri also attended the ceremony.
Under the MoU, a 10-bed modern Children’s Emergency Unit will be established at Sheikh Zayed Hospital Lahore to provide timely, quality and effective emergency medical care to children.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the Sheikh Zayed Postgraduate Medical Institute Lahore by its Chairperson and Dean, Professor Dr Ayesha Humayun Sheikh, while Dr Ahsan Rabbani, Chief Executive Officer of ChildLife Foundation, signed on behalf of the foundation.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal said that the primary objective of the modern unit is to ensure timely and quality medical treatment for children arriving at the emergency department.
He said that the establishment of modern centres of this nature is urgently needed to help reduce child mortality in the country.
“Children’s health is among the government’s top priorities,” the Minister said.
Mustafa Kamal emphasized that providing children with timely medical assistance and modernizing the emergency care system is essential.
He said that the partnership between ChildLife Foundation and Sheikh Zayed Institute would bring a significant improvement to the field of pediatric emergency healthcare.
The Federal Minister said that the establishment of the modern Children’s Emergency Unit would help ensure the provision of immediate, quality and effective medical care to children in need of emergency treatment.
He further stated that greater improvements in the healthcare sector would be achieved through public-private partnerships, adding that the collaboration with ChildLife Foundation is part of the government’s broader vision to bring pediatric emergency care in line with modern requirements.
Mustafa Kamal said that the government is taking effective measures to improve the performance of public-sector hospitals. He reaffirmed that all available resources would be utilized to ensure the provision of quality and modern healthcare facilities in hospitals across the country.
The Federal Minister expressed hope that the new partnership would contribute meaningfully to strengthening pediatric emergency services and improving health outcomes for children.
