DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 10 (APP):The district administration South Waziristan Lower is taking effective steps to ensure green and healthy environment for people of the area.
According to the administration Deputy Commissioner Musarrat Zaman has formally inaugurated the monsoon plantation drive 2026 in the district by planting a sapling.
The Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (SDFO) was also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the deputy commissioner highlighted the importance of plantation in protecting the environment and addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
He said increasing tree cover was a pressing need, as trees play a vital role in reducing environmental pollution, mitigating the adverse impacts of climate change, conserving natural resources and ensuring a clean and healthy environment for future generations.
The deputy commissioner directed the relevant departments to take effective measures to make the plantation campaign successful and ensure the protection and maintenance of newly planted saplings.
He also urged citizens, students, social organizations and government departments to actively participate in the plantation drive and contribute to making South Waziristan Lower greener and more environmentally sustainable.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to promoting plantation and environmental protection across the district under the monsoon plantation drive 2026.
