Organisers of “Silk Route Festival” meet high Commissioner of Sri Lanka
ISLAMABAD, Aug 09 (APP): A delegation of the organizers of the Silk Route Festival, led by Vice Admiral Ahmed Saeed HI (M), together with Sadaf Khalid Khan, Director and Global Coordinator of Silk Route Enterprises, met with the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, H.E. Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathne, at the Official Residence of the High Commissioner.
The High Commissioner warmly welcomed Vice Admiral Ahmed Saeed and the members of his delegation.
During the meeting, the delegation briefed the High Commissioner on the forthcoming Silk Route Festival and its objectives in promoting tourism, cultural exchange, trade, investment, and economic cooperation, said a release issued here on Sunday.
Sadaf Khalid Khan briefed the High Commissioner on the activities of Silk Route Enterprises, which has more than 20 years of experience in tourism promotion, destination marketing, trade facilitation, and investment outreach in Pakistan.
She highlighted that the Silk Route Festival aims to bring together international expertise and provide a platform for sharing experiences, best practices, and innovative models for achieving sustainable and inclusive tourism development.
She further explained that the Festival seeks to promote cultural diplomacy, tourism connectivity, trade, investment, economic growth, and gender inclusion, while creating opportunities for international stakeholders to build partnerships and explore new avenues of cooperation.
The Silk Route Festival is envisioned as a global platform for enhancing cultural, economic, and tourism connectivity among participating countries and communities.
The High Commissioner appreciated the initiative and commended the organizers for their efforts to promote tourism and international cooperation through the Festival.
He expressed his interest in participating in the event and indicated the desire of the High Commission of Sri Lanka to showcase and exhibit Sri Lankan products, including tea, food, handicrafts, and other products reflecting the country’s rich cultural and tourism heritage, at the Festival.
The meeting concluded with a shared understanding of the importance of strengthening cooperation in tourism, cultural exchange, trade, and economic engagement, and of utilizing the Silk Route Festival as a platform to further enhance people-to-people contacts and bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
A. Christy Ruban, Head of Chancery of the High Commission of Sri Lanka, and Mian Hashim Masood, Director of Silk Route Enterprises, also attended the meeting.
