Three-Hour daily public hearings, zero tolerance for corruption: SSP operations sets policing priorities
ISLAMABAD, Aug 09 (APP):Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza has directed police officers to dedicate three hours daily to hearing citizens’ complaints, take effective action against criminals and follow a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, placing public service, women and children’s safety and police welfare at the centre of operational policing.
An official told APP on Sunday that the directives were issued during a meeting chaired by Qazi Ali Raza and attended by SP City Dr Ayaz Hussain, all Station House Officers (SHOs) and moharrars.
The SSP Qazi said serving the public was the foremost priority of Islamabad Police and directed officers to resolve citizens’ problems at their doorstep. Every person visiting a police station or police office should be treated with dignity, respect and courtesy, he added.
He directed all officers to remain available in their offices for three hours every day specifically to hear public complaints and ensure their timely redressal.
Qazi stressed strict implementation of the SIPS protocol, directing officers to provide citizens with efficient police services and prompt relief without unnecessary delays.
Turning to law and order, the SSP said police had a key role in maintaining peace across the federal capital and ordered vigorous and effective action against criminal elements.
Our responsibility is not to conceal crime but to control it, he said, adding that criminals deserved no concession and action against them should be pursued effectively.
The SSP Qazi also reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, warning that any police official found involved in corrupt practices would face strict departmental action.
He said officers demonstrating outstanding performance would be encouraged and rewarded, while those bringing disrepute to the department would face stern action.
Qazi also emphasised the welfare of the police force, describing officers and personnel as a valuable asset. He said their problems would be addressed on priority and that the doors of his office would remain open to police personnel.
The SSP directed officers to ensure the protection of women and children under all circumstances, saying safeguarding the lives and property of citizens remained the foremost responsibility of Islamabad Police
