ISLAMABAD, Aug 08 (APP):Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has paid rich tribute to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, the recipient of Pakistan’s highest military award, Nishan-e-Haider, on his martyrdom anniversary, saying the legendary soldier wrote an unforgettable chapter of courage and valour on the battlefield of Lakshmipur.
In his message, the interior minister said Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed had set an unparalleled example of bravery and sacrifice while fighting the enemy at Lakshmipur. Even after sustaining severe injuries, he refused to halt his advance and continued confronting the enemy with extraordinary courage, ultimately forcing them to retreat.
“Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed fought the enemy manfully until his last breath,” Naqvi said, adding that the nation was proud of the fallen hero’s unparalleled bravery and supreme sacrifice for the motherland.
He said the inspiring tale of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed’s valour would continue to serve as a guiding light for generations to come. His sacrifice, he added, represented the spirit of those courageous sons of Pakistan who placed the defence of their homeland above their own lives.
Naqvi said the martyrs who laid down their lives for Pakistan remained the nation’s pride and an invaluable national legacy. “The sacrifices of our martyrs are a guarantee of Pakistan’s peace and security,” he said, stressing that the defence of every inch of the country’s sacred soil was indebted to the blood shed by its brave soldiers.
The interior minister said Pakistan’s martyrs had sacrificed their today for the tomorrow of the nation, making immense contributions toward the dream of transforming the country into a land of peace and security.
He said the entire nation paid tribute to all its valiant martyrs and remembered their sacrifices with the deepest respect and gratitude.
Naqvi said the supreme sacrifice of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, one of the nation’s greatest sons, would be remembered for all time. His heroic stand at Lakshmipur, he added, would remain an enduring symbol of courage, patriotism and devotion to duty, reminding future generations of the price paid by Pakistan’s defenders for the safety and sovereignty of their homeland.
