CM Maryam welcomes Pakistan-Saudi Arabia-Türkiye defence pact

LAHORE, Aug 07 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has warmly welcomed the defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

The chief minister described the trilateral defence pact as a defining moment in the history of the Muslim Ummah. She paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their efforts to promote unity among Muslim nations.

She said the holy land of Makkah had sent a clear message to the world that the Muslim world stands united, adding that the coming together of three major economic, military and political powers under the shadow of Makkah was a source of hope for the entire Ummah.

Maryam Nawaz said the joint defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye marked the beginning of a new chapter in the Islamic world. She said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, together with the Saudi and Turkish leadership, had made the nation proud.

She reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue to champion Muslim unity and collective security at the global level. She said the mutual defence agreement would not only strengthen the security of participating countries but would also enhance the dignity and confidence of the Muslim Ummah.

The chief minister said an attack on one member state would be regarded as an attack on all, adding that the Makkah Defence Pact had reaffirmed the unity of the Islamic world. She said Pakistan would always welcome initiatives aimed at strengthening Muslim unity, collective security and mutual trust.
