City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) on Friday launched a special awareness campaign encouraging motorcyclists to install and use side-view mirrors as part of its efforts to promote safe riding and a disciplined traffic culture.

LAHORE, Aug 07 (APP):City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) on Friday launched a special awareness campaign encouraging motorcyclists to install and use side-view mirrors as part of its efforts to promote safe riding and a disciplined traffic culture.
According to a spokesperson,Chief Traffic Officer (CTO),Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi directed all circle officers to educate motorcyclists about the importance of side-view mirrors,alongside helmet use and lane discipline,to help reduce road accidents and improve traffic management.
The CTO said that of the 8.2 million registered vehicles in Lahore,more than 6.1 million were motorcycles.
He cited accident statistics showing that nearly 70 per cent of fatal road crashes directly or indirectly involve motorcyclists,underscoring the need for stronger safety measures.
He said side-view mirrors enable riders to monitor traffic approaching from behind while changing lanes, significantly reducing the risk of collisions.
The CTO also met representatives of motorcycle manufacturing companies and proposed the introduction of detachable side-view mirrors.
Under the proposal,only the mirror glass would need replacement if damaged,instead of the entire mirror rod, making repairs easier and more affordable for riders.
He said Lahore Traffic Police was giving equal importance to helmets,lane discipline and side-view mirrors as essential components of safe motorcycle riding,adding that strict compliance with traffic laws was the key to protecting the lives and property of road users.
