Rawalpindi Board holds prize distribution ceremony for matric position holders

RAWALPINDI, Aug 06 (APP): The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi on Thursday held a prize distribution ceremony to honour students who secured top positions in the Matric Annual Examination 2026, with shields, certificates and cash awards presented to the position holders.

Member of the National Assembly Malik Abrar Ahmad, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry, BISE Rawalpindi Chairman Prof. Dr Iqbal Mahmood, Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan, teachers, parents, students and people from different walks of life attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Malik Abrar Ahmad said the day was a celebration for successful students, their parents and teachers, adding that their hard work and dedication had been rewarded with outstanding academic achievements. He said the Punjab government’s initiatives under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz were producing positive results in the education sector, while merit-based scholarships were enabling talented students from remote areas to excel. He paid tribute to teachers and parents, particularly mothers, for their sacrifices and appreciated the Rawalpindi Board for ensuring a transparent examination system.

Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry congratulated the position holders and said the achievements reflected the commitment of students, teachers and educational institutions. He urged students to continue working hard, develop strong moral values and reduce unnecessary use of mobile phones and social media in favour of reading books. He also praised teachers for delivering quality education despite limited resources.

Addressing the ceremony, BISE Rawalpindi Chairman Prof. Dr. Iqbal Mahmood said the Punjab government’s vision was to ensure that no child remained deprived of education. He said the board was announcing the 48th annual Matric examination result since its establishment, reflecting the credibility and transparency of its examination system.

Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan said more than 121,000 students appeared in the annual examinations of Classes IX and X. He said thousands of teachers were engaged in conducting examinations and marking answer scripts to ensure transparency and quality. He added that the overall pass percentage in the Matric examinations remained 61.63 percent, while CCTV monitoring and biometric verification were introduced at sensitive examination centres. He also announced that the refund of rechecking fees in cases of increased marks would soon be made available online and further digital reforms would be introduced next year.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, shields, certificates and cash prizes were distributed among the position holders. Speakers congratulated the successful students, their parents and teachers, expressing confidence that the youth would play a key role in the country’s future development and prosperity.
