17 Sudanese engineers complete advanced digital training under OIC-COMSTECH–FAST-NUCES Joint Programme
ISLAMABAD, Aug 06 (APP):Seventeen Sudanese engineers have completed an eight-week advanced training programme in cybersecurity, data analytics and cloud computing, jointly conducted by the OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) and the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NUCES).
The programme, conducted from June 06 to August 06, concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony at the FAST-NUCES Islamabad Campus.
It was designed to provide participants with practical expertise in securing digital infrastructure, managing cloud-based systems and analysing complex data.
The ceremony was attended by Sudanese Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr Salih Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Siddig, COMSTECH Coordinator General Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, FAST-NUCES Rector Dr Aftab Ahmad, FAST-NUCES Islamabad Campus Director Prof Dr Waseem Shahzad, faculty members, course instructors, COMSTECH officials and the Sudanese trainees.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Dr.M. Iqbal Choudhary,Coordinator General COMSTECH said human resource development and advanced technical training remained central to COMSTECH’s efforts to strengthen scientific and technological capacity across OIC member states.
He said supporting engineers, scientists and professionals from countries facing difficult circumstances was one of the most meaningful forms of cooperation within the Muslim world.
He appreciated FAST-NUCES for designing and conducting the specialised programme and thanked the Embassy of Sudan for facilitating the participation of the engineers.
Prof Choudhary also acknowledged the Prime Institute of Health Sciences for providing residential facilities and hospitality to the Sudanese participants throughout their stay in Islamabad.
Sudanese Ambassador, Salih Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Siddig thanked COMSTECH, FAST-NUCES and the Government of Pakistan for extending educational and professional support to Sudan at a time when the country was facing the consequences of an ongoing conflict.
He described the programme as a practical example of brotherhood and cooperation among OIC member states, saying Pakistan’s assistance through scholarships, specialised training and capacity-building opportunities would be valued by the people of Sudan.
The ambassador called for the partnership to be expanded into additional academic, scientific and technical fields.
FAST-NUCES Rector Dr Aftab Ahmad Maroof said the university had readily agreed to conduct the programme and was encouraged by its outcome.
He said Pakistani universities possessed expertise that could support professionals from Sudan and other Muslim countries in acquiring skills in emerging technologies. FAST-NUCES, he added, was prepared to collaborate with COMSTECH on future programmes in cybersecurity, semiconductor and chip design, data sciences and other advanced fields.
Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Ahmed Mohamed Alhafiz Hassan Zainalabdin thanked COMSTECH and FAST-NUCES for the academic and technical support provided during the programme.
He said the training had strengthened the participants’ practical capabilities in cybersecurity, cloud computing and data analytics and would enable them to contribute more effectively to Sudan’s digital and institutional development.
The certificates were distributed among the 17 engineers at the conclusion of the ceremony.
The organisers said the programme formed part of wider efforts to connect professionals from OIC member states with leading universities and technical institutions for specialised training, knowledge exchange and human resource development.
