HYDERABAD, Aug 06 (APP):Rescue 1122 Jamshoro and Hyderabad conducted a Flood and Emergency Response Drill at Al-Manzar on the Indus River. Commissioner Hyderabad Division, Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, and Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro, Ghazanfar Ali Qadri, attended the exercise and reviewed the preparedness of Rescue 1122 and other concerned departments for potential flood and emergency situations.
According to a press release issued here on Thursday, the drill featured demonstrations of flood rescue, water rescue, firefighting, search and rescue, and other emergency response operations.
Commissioner appreciated the performance of Rescue 1122 and emphasized that such exercises were vital for strengthening emergency preparedness and ensuring a timely and effective response during disasters.
The Commissioner further stated that there was currently no alarming situation at Kotri Barrage. However, with an expected flow of approximately 260,000 cusecs in the coming days, all concerned departments had been placed on high alert, while continuous monitoring of the Indus River and contingency planning for vulnerable riverine areas were underway.
The event was attended by District Health Officer Jamshoro Dr. Pir Manzoor Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner Manjhand, Assistant Commissioner Kotri, Deputy Director Livestock, In-charge of Rescue 1122 Jamshoro Wali Muhammad Chandio and officers from various government departments.
