ATC rejects bail of woman accused of throwing acid on man over marriage dispute

LAHORE, Aug 05 (APP):An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday rejected the post-arrest bail plea of a woman accused of throwing acid on a man.
ATC Judge Malik Abid Hussain announced the verdict after hearing the bail application of accused Rimsha Mughal, who had sought post-arrest bail.
During the proceedings, the defence counsel argued that co-accused Kiran Shehzadi, the complainant’s former wife, had already secured bail. He pleaded with the court to grant benefit of bail to his client as well.
However, the prosecution pointed out that co-accused Kiran Shehzadi was not present at the scene of the attack.
It submitted that Rimsha Mughal attacked the victim, Ahsan, with acid at the instigation of her friend, Kiran Shehzadi. Ahsan had recently returned from Malaysia and allegedly intended to marry Rimsha after divorcing Kiran, it added.
The prosecution submitted that Rimsha and Kiran, who were close friends, jointly planned the attack. It pleaded with the court to dismiss the bail petition.
A case has been registered against both women at Saddar Kasur Police Station.
