Photo exhibition held at Punjab Arts Council to mark Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir
RAWALPINDI, Aug 05 (APP):A photo exhibition highlighting the plight of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and alleged human rights violations was organized at the Punjab Arts Council, Rawalpindi, to mark Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir.
Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Punjab Shazia Rizwan inaugurated the exhibition.
Speaking on the occasion, Shazia Rizwan said August 5, 2019, was one of the darkest days in the history of the Kashmiri people, when India revoked the special status of IIOJK in violation of international laws and UN resolutions. She said Pakistan would continue to extend its political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people at every level.
She said the observance of Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir aims to draw the attention of the international community towards the alleged atrocities and human rights violations in IIOJK. She added that the day was being observed across Punjab in a befitting manner under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Director Punjab Arts Council Muhammad Shakoor said the council organizes events every year to mark Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir. He said the objective of the photo exhibition was to highlight the situation in IIOJK and raise awareness about the alleged human rights violations. He added that the Arts Council regularly holds programmes to commemorate occasions of national, cultural and historical significance.
A large number of artists, writers, students and citizens visited the exhibition and expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
