TUF students express solidarity with Kashmiris
FAISALABAD, Aug 05 (APP):Students and faculty members of The University of Faisalabad (TUF) on Wednesday expressed solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) during a special ceremony held in connection with Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir.
They paid tribute to those who lost their lives and reiterating support for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
TUF Centre of Collective Activities in collaboration with various student societies organized the event, where students actively participated and highlighted the significance of August 05 as Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir through speeches and presentations.
The students expressed solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren and paid homage to the people who lost their lives due to atrocities of Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
A panel discussion was also arranged on Youm-e-Istehsal titled “Kashmir Today: Rethinking Perspectives, Building Understanding”.
The discussion was attended by Head of Urdu Department Dr Riaz Majeed, Director Iqbal Chair at Riphah International University Dr Abdul Sattar Naeem, Dr Naveed Anjum from Department of International Relations, Advocate Ms Shabnam Amanat and Dr Sharjeel Yousaf from National Business School, Dr Nabiha Hassan from Department of Biochemistry, senior broadcaster of FM 96.6 Radio Farrukh Sheikh, Advocate High Court Hassan Javed and other participants.
Speaking on the occasion, the participants discussed historical background, significance and various dimensions of Kashmir issue. They said that Kashmir had remained a significant issue since the partition of subcontinent. They stressed that its resolution should be based on United Nations resolutions.
They said that a peaceful and lasting settlement of the dispute was imperative for regional stability. They expressed the view that Kashmiri people should be given opportunity to decide their future in accordance with international commitments.
They said that Youm-e-Istehsal served as a day of reaffirming the commitment to continue supporting Kashmiri people at every level.
The young generation should be sensitized about historical issues and importance of peace and justice, they added.
Certificates were also distributed among students who participated in different competitions organized as part of the event.
A solidarity rally was also organized in which heads of various university departments, faculty members and a large number of students participated.
They carried messages of solidarity and support for the people of Kashmir.
Later, special prayers were offered for stability and prosperity of Pakistan and peace and freedom for the people of occupied Kashmir.
