Marking Youm-e-Istehsal, Pakistan urges UN to Implement Security Council resolutions on Kashmir

UNITED NATIONS, Aug 05 (APP):Marking Youm-e-Istehsal, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, called on the international community, particularly the UN, to protect the human rights of the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir and implement Security Council resolution to resolve the decades-old Kashmir dispute.
In a message on the occasion held to protest India’s 2019 revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special autonomous status, he said, “The continued denial and violation of fundamental rights and freedoms, prolonged restrictions, demographic changes, and efforts to impose a new reality on the ground cannot alter the internationally recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir, nor can they extinguish the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people for freedom from Indian occupation.”
Pakistan, Ambassador Asim Ahmad said, stands in steadfast solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirm its unwavering support for their inalienable right to self-determination, as guaranteed by the relevant UNSC resolutions, noting that seven years after the unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August 2019, the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir remains a matter of profound concern.
“The continued denial and violation of fundamental rights and freedoms, prolonged restrictions, demographic changes, and efforts to impose a new reality on the ground cannot alter the internationally recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir, nor can they extinguish the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people for freedom from Indian occupation,” he said.
“On this solemn occasion, we pay tribute to the resilience, courage and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people,” the Pakistan envoy said, pointing out that their quest for justice and dignity has endured despite decades of adversity imposed by the Indian occupation.
“Pakistan will continue to extend its full support to the Kashmiri brothers and sisters until the realization of their right to self-determination and resolution of the dispute in a just and peaceful manner.”
