Ceremony held at Police Lines to mark Police Martyrs’ Day
RAWALPINDI, Aug 05 (APP):A ceremony was held at the Police Lines Headquarters to observe Police Martyrs’ Day and pay glowing tribute to police officers and jawans who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
According to a police spokesperson, the families of Rawalpindi Police martyrs were invited as special guests to attend the ceremony.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa, City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera, senior police officers and the families of the martyrs visited the Martyrs’ Memorial, where a smartly turned-out contingent of Rawalpindi Police presented a ceremonial salute. The RPO and CPO laid floral wreaths at the memorial and offered prayers for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks.
The senior officers later met the families of the martyrs, interacted with their children and reaffirmed the police department’s commitment to their welfare.
Addressing the gathering, RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa paid rich tribute to the sacrifices of police martyrs, describing them as a lasting source of inspiration for the force. He said the families of the martyrs deserved the highest respect and every possible support.
“Our police martyrs are a beacon of guidance for us, and their unparalleled sacrifices will always be remembered,” the RPO said. “We pray that Allah grants us all the same spirit of dedication in protecting our homeland and fighting crime as demonstrated by our martyrs.”
Speaking on the occasion, CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera said that 122 Rawalpindi Police personnel had laid down their lives in the line of duty while protecting the country and combating crime. He assured the bereaved families that the police department would continue to care for them as members of its own family.
“The families of our martyrs remain my foremost priority and that of the Rawalpindi Police,” the CPO said, adding that the sacrifices rendered by police martyrs would never be forgotten.
