Petition filed in IHC regarding summary approval for Judges’ appointment

ISLAMABAD, Aug 05 (APP): A petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) challenging the alleged non-approval of the summary for the appointment of new judges.

Advocate Luqman Zafar, through Advocate Zahid Asif Chaudhry, filed the petition seeking directions to the respondents to approve the summary relating to the appointment of judges.

The petition submitted that the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, in its meetings held on July 20 and 21, recommended appointments to various high courts.

It stated that the Judicial Commission had recommended the appointment of 19 judges and contended that the approval process should be completed in accordance with the constitutional and legal framework.

The petitioner requested the court to issue appropriate directions to ensure approval of the judges’ appointment summary through the President’s Secretariat.

The petitioner has named federal government, ministry of law and justice, secretary to President and others as respondents in the case.
