PESHAWAR, Aug 05 (APP): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch a three-month paid internship programme for BS students and graduates to equip young people with practical workplace experience and enhance their employability.
The Higher Education Department (HED) has issued directives to all administrative secretaries, asking government departments, autonomous bodies, public sector institutions and universities to ensure the availability of internship opportunities under the initiative.
Under the programme, each intern will receive a monthly stipend of Rs25,000, with the scheme to be fully financed by the provincial government.
According to the official communication, interns will be placed in government departments, autonomous organisations, public universities and other relevant institutions to gain hands-on professional experience aligned with their academic backgrounds.
The department has also instructed all administrative departments to earmark suitable internship positions for eligible BS students and graduates and nominate focal persons to oversee implementation and coordination of the programme.
All departments have been asked to submit details of available internship placements within 15 days, after which a centralised provincial database will be established to match students and graduates with internship opportunities based on their qualifications and fields of study.
The HED said the initiative is aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice, enabling graduates to develop workplace skills and improve their prospects in the job market.
