President of Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam (AFI) Professor Dr Riaz Ahmad on Wednesday condemned India’s Aug. 5, 2019, decision to revoke the special constitutional status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), describing it as a violation of United Nations resolutions and international law.

RAWALPINDI, Aug 05 (APP): President of Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam (AFI) Professor Dr Riaz Ahmad on Wednesday condemned India’s Aug. 5, 2019, decision to revoke the special constitutional status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), describing it as a violation of United Nations resolutions and international law.
Addressing a ceremony after a rally held on Murree Road to mark Youm-e-Istehsal, he said the move had stripped the occupied territory of its special status in disregard of international obligations.
Dr Riaz Ahmad said reversing what he termed India’s unilateral action remained the responsibility of the international community, particularly democratic nations.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding position on the Kashmir dispute, he said Kashmir remained Pakistan’s “jugular vein” and reiterated support for the Kashmiri people’s internationally recognised right to self-determination.
He said the people of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir stood in solidarity with the people of IIOJK and called for the implementation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The rally, led by Dr Riaz Ahmad, was attended by teachers, students and staff of Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam’s educational institutions.
Participants carried banners and placards expressing solidarity with the people of IIOJK, calling for the restoration of the region’s constitutional status as it existed before Aug. 5, 2019. They also chanted slogans in support of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
