Dopasi Foundation delegation visits Parliament House, receives briefing on Senate’s role

ISLAMABAD, Aug 04 (APP):An eight-member delegation from the Dopasi Foundation, Islamabad, visited Parliament House on Tuesday and received a detailed briefing on Pakistan’s parliamentary system, the legislative process and the constitutional role of the Senate.
Senior officials of the Senate Secretariat welcomed the delegation and escorted the participants to the Senate Museum.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on Pakistan’s parliamentary history, the evolution of the Senate, the legislative process and the constitutional responsibilities of the Upper House. A documentary on the history of the Senate was also screened.
The delegation later visited the Senate Hall, where the Senior Director General (Protocol) gave a comprehensive presentation on the functions of the Senate Secretariat, the conduct of parliamentary business, the role of standing committees, Senate proceedings, the stages of legislation and the constitutional and democratic importance of the Upper House.
The participants described the briefing as informative and took part in an interactive question-and-answer session, during which Senate Secretariat officials responded to their queries.
At the end of the visit, the delegation said the tour of Parliament House was a memorable and valuable experience.
They also appreciated the Senate Secretariat for its hospitality, well-organised arrangements and detailed briefing.
