Planning, Information ministers discuss PTV revamping, modernization under PSDP

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar held a detailed discussion on the revamping and modernization of Pakistan Television (PTV) under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

ISLAMABAD, Aug 4 (APP):Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar held a detailed discussion on the revamping and modernization of Pakistan Television (PTV) under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
During the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal said the state broadcaster was a national asset that would be restored and equipped with modern facilities to strengthen its role in promoting national identity and unity, a news release by the Ministry of Planning said on Tuesday.
Attaullah Tarar said the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting required the support of the Ministry of Planning for implementing the PTV revamping project under the PSDP.
He said the development of local broadcasting infrastructure in Gilgit-Baltistan was indispensable for the live telecast of international sporting events, adding that, at present, Outside Broadcast (OB) vans had to be dispatched from Islamabad to cover such events.
The information minister also stressed that upgrading PTV’s Master Control Rooms (MCRs) in line with modern broadcasting requirements was an urgent necessity to improve the quality and efficiency of transmissions.
