127th birth anniversary of Sufi Tabassum observed nationwide

LAHORE, Aug 04 (APP):The 127th birth anniversary of eminent Urdu and Punjabi poet,educationist,scholar and literary critic Sufi Ghulam Mustafa Tabassum was observed across the country on Tuesday,with literary and educational circles paying tribute to his enduring contributions to literature,education and scholarship.

Seminars,poetry recitals and discussion sessions were organized by literary organizations,educational institutions and cultural bodies to commemorate his life and legacy.

Sufi Tabassum served at Government College Lahore for many years and was widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s most distinguished teachers.

He made significant contributions to Urdu,Punjabi and Persian literature through his poetry,literary criticism and scholarly work.

His poetry was admired for its simplicity,elegance and humanistic values while his research on Persian classics and the works of Allama Muhammad Iqbal earned him widespread recognition.

He was also considered among the leading interpreters of Iqbal’s literary and philosophical thought.

Sufi Tabassum made a lasting contribution to children’s literature through his celebrated poem Tot Batot,which remains part of school curricula and literary publications across Pakistan.

During the 1965 Indo-Pakistan war,his patriotic poetry was widely appreciated for inspiring national unity and boosting public morale.

His songs,including Mera Puttar Pakistan Da,rendered by Madam Noor Jehan and Aye Puttar Hattan Tey Nahi Vikdey,continue to be remembered as symbols of courage, sacrifice and patriotism.

Speakers at commemorative events described Sufi Ghulam Mustafa Tabassum as one of Pakistan’s foremost literary figures,saying his poetry,scholarship and lifelong commitment to education continue to inspire generations of writers, scholars and readers.
