RAWALPINDI, Aug 03 (APP):City Police Officer (CPO) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera on Monday held a meeting at the Police Lines Headquarters to review security arrangements for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) directing officers and personnels to ensure comprehensive security measures for all processions.
The meeting was attended by SSP Operations, SSP Investigation, Chief Traffic Officer, SP Security, divisional SPs, SDPOs, SHOs and other senior police officers.
During the meeting, the CPO reviewed the overall security plan and issued detailed instructions to strengthen arrangements for the religious event.
He directed that all participants entering the procession should undergo thorough body searches while walk-through gates and metal detectors would be installed at all entry points to ensure effective screening.
The CPO said snipers would be deployed on rooftops along the procession routes while adjoining streets, alleys and access points would be sealed to prevent any security breaches.
He also instructed officers to ensure strict implementation of the code of conduct and standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the Punjab government.
According to the security plan, more than 3,600 officers and personnel of the Rawalpindi Police will be deployed to perform security duties during the Chehlum.
CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera reaffirmed that maintaining peace, public order and the rule of law would remain the top priority adding that the police would take all necessary measures to ensure the peaceful observance of the Chehlum.
