PMDC assures full MDCAT facilitation for AJK students
ISLAMABAD, Aug 03 (APP):The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on Monday assured that every possible facilitation would be provided to students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to ensure their participation in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).
The council would ensure special registration arrangements and the establishment of an examination centre in Islamabad for MDCAT.
The assurance was given during a meeting between Secretary Health, Government of AJK, Brig. Aamer Reza Tippu, Chairman Joint Admission Committee Prof. Dr. Fasal Bashir, and PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, Registrar Brig. Rehan Naqvi (Retd), and Director Admission Affairs Dr. Imdad Ali Khushuk.
During the meeting, the AJK Secretary Health highlighted the difficulties faced by students in completing MDCAT registration.
He requested PMDC to facilitate affected candidates so that no eligible student would be deprived of the opportunity to appear in the examination.
PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj said the council had already taken several special measures to support AJK students, reaffirming the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring that all eligible candidates from the region could sit the MDCAT.
He said the MDCAT registration deadline had been extended twice with the normal registration fee—from July 8 to July 13, and later from July 13 to July 23—to provide maximum convenience for students affected by the exceptional circumstances.
The PMDC has also allowed registration through WhatsApp, email and physical submission of applications.
Students facing registration issues can directly contact the council for assistance.
To further facilitate candidates from AJK, PMDC has established a special MDCAT examination centre in Islamabad and appointed a focal person to assist students with registration and examination-related matters.
During the meeting, the PMDC President and Registrar also agreed in principle to establish a PMDC sub-office in AJK to improve access to council services for students and healthcare professionals.
The proposal will be presented to the PMDC Governing Body for formal approval.
The AJK Secretary Health and the Chairman of the Joint Admission Committee appreciated PMDC’s timely initiatives and continued support, acknowledging the council’s commitment to ensuring every possible facilitation for AJK students during the MDCAT registration and examination process.
