ISLAMABAD, Aug 03 (APP):Religious scholars and spiritual leaders representing all schools of thought under the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee have strongly condemned the suicide attack in Swat, describing it as a heinous act that stands in complete contradiction to the teachings of Islam.
In a joint statement, the committee expressed profound grief over the tragic incident, praying for the elevation of the ranks of those who embraced martyrdom, the swift and complete recovery of the injured, and patience and fortitude for the bereaved families.
The statement was jointly issued by Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Mufti Abdul Rahim, Allama Arif Wahidi, Allama Syed Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Pir Naqeeb-ur-Rehman, Dr. Asif Mir, Mufti Muhammad Karim Khan, Allama Taufiq Abbas, Allama Muhammad Hussain Akbar, Maulana Mufti Nauman Naeem, Maulana Hafiz Maqbool Ahmed, Maulana Zubair Faheem, Maulana Mufti Abdul Latif, Maulana Muhammad Yousaf Kashmiri, Maulana Zahid Mansoor, Maulana Anwar-ul-Haq, and Maulana Hafiz Muhammad Tariq Mahmood.
The scholars emphasized that Islam is a religion of peace, moderation, and compassion. They cited the Holy Quran, which states: “And do not kill yourselves” (Surah An-Nisa, 29), and the divine command: “Whoever kills a person—unless in retribution for murder or for spreading corruption in the land—it is as if he has killed all mankind” (Surah Al-Maidah, 32).
They said the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) strongly condemned both suicide and the unlawful killing of innocent people. Referring to the unanimously endorsed Paigham-e-Pakistan Fatwa, the committee reiterated that suicide bombings, terrorism and the killing of innocent civilians are categorically prohibited under Islamic law. The committee stated that those involved in such acts subscribe to the ideology of Fitna-e-Khawarij.
The scholars stressed that, in accordance with the principles of Islamic Sharia, supporting the Pakistan Armed Forces, police, law enforcement agencies and other security institutions in their efforts to eliminate terrorism, maintain public order and protect the lives and property of citizens is both a national and religious obligation.
The National Paigham-e-Aman Committee also paid tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, law enforcement agencies and other security institutions for their sacrifices, courage and unwavering commitment to restoring peace and combating terrorism. The Committee said officers and personnel of these institutions continue to make invaluable sacrifices for the country’s peace, stability and the protection of its people, adding that the entire nation stands with them and deeply appreciates their services.
Concluding the statement, the committee prayed that Allah Almighty elevate the ranks of the martyrs, grant complete recovery to the injured, and protect Pakistan from all forms of terrorism.
