ISLAMABAD, Aug 02 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Sunday issued a comprehensive traffic management plan for the Chehlum procession to be held on Monday, August 3, advising commuters to use alternate routes as traffic diversions and road closures would remain in place from 7:00 a.m. until the conclusion of the procession.
An ITP official told APP that the main Chehlum procession would commence at 1:00 p.m. from Imambargah Asna Ashari, G-6/2, and pass through G-6 Service Road, Sadr Road, Street No. 33, Street No. 40, Municipal Road, Melody Chowk, Shuhada Chowk, Aabpara Police Station, Poly Clinic and Luqman Hakeem Road before concluding at the same Imambargah.
Road Closures
The official said the following roads would remain closed to traffic during the procession:
Route 1: Fazl-e-Haq Road from Kulsum Plaza Chowk to China Chowk (both directions).
Route 2: Suhrawardy Road from Daman-e-Koh Chowk towards Chand Tara Chowk via Blue Area Outer Loop to Seventh Avenue Chowk (both directions).
Route 3: Sadr Road from Iqbal Hall to Melody Chowk (both directions).
Route 4: Municipal Road from Lal Masjid to Shuhada Chowk/GPO Chowk (both directions).
Route 5: Luqman Hakeem Road from Poly Clinic to Iqbal Hall (completely closed).
Alternate Routes
The official advised commuters to use the following alternate routes:
For Route 1: Use Jinnah Avenue.
For Route 2: Use Jinnah Avenue, Suhrawardy Road and Margalla Road.
For Route 3: Use Suhrawardy Road via Aabpara.
For Route 4: Use Shaheed-e-Millat Road.
For Route 5: Use Jinnah Avenue.
The official urged citizens to avoid the procession route, use alternate roads during the event and park their vehicles and motorcycles only at designated parking areas if participating in the procession.
