GCWUS pays tribute to Prof Faizan
SIALKOT, Jul 30 (APP):A ceremony was held at Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS)
to pay tribute to the academic and teaching contributions of Professor Faizan-ul-Haq, one of Pakistan’s distinguished physicists, researchers, and educators, a release said on Thursday.
On this occasion, Professor Faizan-ul-Haq’s niece, Ms Rabia Aftab, and her husband Aftab
attended the event as special guests at the invitation of Vice Chancellor Professor
Dr Shazia Bashir.
They presented a donation of Rs 6 million to the GC Women University Sialkot Endowment
Fund in memory of Professor Faizan-ul-Haq, his brother Rizwan-ul-Haq, and their parents,
Shah Begum and Ghulam Dastgir.
The donation will fund six Golden Scholarships every year for deserving female students
enrolled in PhD, MPhil, and BS Physics, as well as MPhil and BS Economics programs.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shazia Bashir said that Professor
Faizan-ul-Haq devoted his entire life to the pursuit of knowledge, research, and the education
of students. She added that his greatest legacy lies in his students, who are now making significant
contributions in various fields both within Pakistan and abroad.
She further stated that the GC Women University Sialkot Endowment Fund was established to ensure that no talented female student is deprived of education due to financial constraints. She noted that during the past year, nearly 2,000 students of the university have benefited from various government, private, and donor-funded scholarship programs.
