Minister Azma hits back at Sharjeel Memon, accuses PPP of political blackmail

LAHORE, Jul 29 (APP):Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bukhari on Wednesday strongly responded to Pakistan Peoples Party leader Sharjeel Inam Memon, accusing the PPP of using political blackmail to retain power in Sindh.
In a statement, Azma Bukhari said, “Oh really! That’s why you have secured Sindh for the fourth time through blackmail, isn’t it?”
She alleged that those now talking about democracy remained silent when opposition candidates were allegedly made to disappear during elections for a House seat and when local government elections in Sindh were allegedly manipulated.
The provincial minister claimed that the PPP has repeatedly used the slogan of “national interest” to pursue political blackmail while maintaining its hold over Sindh for the past 18 years.
Azma Bukhari also criticised the party’s democratic credentials, remarking, “Big revolutionaries, fake democrats.”
The statement comes amid an ongoing exchange of political criticism between leaders of the Punjab government and the Pakistan Peoples Party.
