Kohat authorities launches crackdown on illegal mining, encroachments, hygiene violations
KOHAT, Jul 29 (APP):Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohat Muhammad Nawaz Wazir chaired a high-level meeting with officials from the Minerals Department, Kohat Police, and the Forest Department to curb illegal placer gold mining in the district.
According to APP correspondent, the DC issued strict directives for immediate legal action against individuals involved in illegal mining operations.
On the DC’s instructions, Addi. AC Gumbat Syed Mukhtiar Shah, along with TMA Encroachment Inspectors, conducted inspections in Gumbat Bazaar. Shops, grocery stores, and fruit and vegetable vendors were checked.
Penalties were imposed on shopkeepers violating government-prescribed price lists, hygiene standards, or creating encroachments. TMA staff were ordered to seize illegally parked pushcarts and merchandise.
Syed Mukhtiar also visited Rescue 1122 Gumbat for an operational inspection. He reviewed emergency vehicles, staff readiness, and available equipment to ensure prompt response times for the public. Meanwhile, AC (HQ) Kohat Naveed Ahmad carried out inspections at various hotels and restaurants across the district.
Authorities reviewed food quality and sanitation conditions, and took strict action against establishments failing to comply with official health and hygiene regulations.
