AC inspects under-construction sewerage scheme, orders action over substandard work in DIKhan

Dera Ismail Khan , Jul 29 (APP):Assistant Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan, Dr Muhammad Hamid Siddiq, on Wednesday conducted a surprise inspection of the under-construction sewerage line project in Jogianwali Gali and expressed dissatisfaction over the quality of construction work.

During the visit, the assistant commissioner summoned the contractor to the site and directed that no negligence, use of substandard material or poor-quality construction would be tolerated. He instructed that the project must be completed strictly in accordance with the approved technical specifications.

Keeping public safety and smooth traffic flow in view, he directed the traffic police to deploy personnel at the site immediately to prevent any untoward incident due to ongoing excavation and to regulate traffic effectively.

Taking notice of the inconvenience caused to residents by the excavation, Dr Siddiq ordered the contractor to complete the filling of the dug-up portions within two hours. Acting on his directives, the contractor completed the filling work within the stipulated time, restoring traffic and public movement in the area.

The assistant commissioner also termed the quality of work being executed under the Public Health Engineering Department as unsatisfactory and formally wrote to the department, recommending action against the contractor in accordance with the relevant rules and regulations.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Muhammad Hamid Siddiq said there would be no compromise on quality, transparency and timely completion of public welfare projects. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against those found responsible for negligence or substandard performance in government development schemes to ensure the provision of quality civic facilities to the public.
