Minister inspects bridge projects

SIALKOT, Jul 28 (APP):Provincial Minister for Communications & Works (C&W) Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth and Secretary C&W visited and inspected two important under-construction bridge projects in the district.
Chief Engineer Highways North, Superintending Engineer Highways Circle Gujranwala, Superintending Engineer Mechanical, Bridge Directorate team and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
During the visit, the Submersible Bridge under construction at 2km on Sialkot–Saidpur–Bajwat Road was inspected.
Executive Engineer Highways Sialkot briefed that all 30 piles, 8 pier caps and 2 abutment caps of the project have been completed, while 7 out of 9 slabs have also been completed.
Later, the minister and secretary inspected the bridge under construction over Nullah Dyke on Budhiana,Chawinda,Zafarwal Road. They were informed that all 20 piles, 36 girders, 8 pier caps and 2 abutment caps have been completed. The girder launching work is in progress, while slab work is yet to start.
Expressing concern over the delay in completion of both projects, Provincial Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth directed the concerned officers and contractors to complete all remaining construction work by August 15 and open both bridges for traffic.
He said that the Punjab government, according to the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is committed to timely completion of development projects, maintaining quality standards and providing safe travelling facilities to the public.
He further said that unnecessary delays and poor quality work will not be tolerated. All concerned officers must ensure completion of assigned targets within the given time.
