WWF unveils workers housing plan at FFC convention
ISLAMABAD, Jul 27 (APP):Secretary Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) Zulfiqar Ahmad on Monday announced the development of a modern housing colony for industrial workers while addressing a workers’ convention at FFC Machhi Goth in Sadiqabad.
He assured employees that their longstanding issues would be resolved on a priority basis as part of the government’s drive to improve workers’ welfare, education, healthcare and housing facilities.
Addressing a large gathering of workers and union representatives, Ahmad said he is attending the convention on the directions of Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Federal Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry to directly engage with workers and hear their concerns.
He said the proposed housing colony would provide workers and their families with quality living facilities and improve their standard of life.
“The children of workers are our children. Their education, healthcare and housing remain the foremost priorities of the Workers Welfare Fund,” he said, adding that the welfare initiatives launched during the current tenure were unprecedented.
Ahmad said the WWF was implementing reforms in line with the vision of Chaudhry Salik Hussain to strengthen education, healthcare, housing and social protection programmes for workers across the country.
He said the institution had adopted a policy based on transparency, merit, accountability and efficient service delivery, ensuring that welfare schemes reached deserving workers fairly and without discrimination.
Speaking on the occasion, CBA Union President Nasir Bajwa thanked the WWF secretary for attending the convention and engaging directly with workers.
He also appreciated the efforts of Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Federal Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and WWF leadership for promoting transparency and addressing workers’ concerns.
At the end of the convention, the CBA Union presented commemorative souvenirs to Zulfiqar Ahmad and members of his delegation in recognition of their contributions to workers’ welfare.
Participants reaffirmed their support for government initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of workers and their families.
