DIKhan sanitation network expands to 13 union councils with new modern machinery

Dera Ismail Khan, Jul 25 (APP): Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) Dera Ismail Khan launched a fleet of newly procured sanitation machinery to improve cleanliness services in five newly added union councils.

The inaugural ceremony was held at the District Auditorium Hall, where former chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur was the chief guest.

Assistant Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Dr Muhammad Hamid Siddiq also attended the event on behalf of the district administration.

The newly inducted fleet comprises eight 150cc motorcycle loaders and two four-wheel-drive (4×4) tractors, which will be deployed to strengthen sanitation operations in the expanded service areas.

The ceremony was attended by local elders, elected representatives, members of the media, WSSC Board of Directors, management officials, officers and a large number of sanitation workers.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) WSSC Dera Ismail Khan Naimat Ullah Khan Gandapur said the company remained committed to providing modern, efficient and quality sanitation services to residents. He termed the addition of the new machinery a significant step towards improving sanitation coverage in the newly incorporated union councils.

He said WSSC had previously added 16 tractors and three 4×4 bucket machines to its fleet, which were successfully serving different parts of the city. He urged citizens to cooperate with sanitation staff, dispose of waste at designated locations and play their role in keeping the city clean.

The chairman said WSSC DI Khan formally started operations in 2017, initially covering eight union councils, and had now expanded its services to 13 union councils due to public confidence, government support and the institution’s continuous efforts.

He acknowledged the support of Member National Assembly Faisal Amin Khan Gandapur and former Tehsil Mayor Umar Amin Khan Gandapur, saying their assistance in securing funds, providing modern sanitation machinery and supporting the organisation had played an important role in strengthening public service delivery.

Naimat Ullah Khan Gandapur further said all sanitation machinery had been procured transparently through the government’s e-PADS procurement system, ensuring merit, transparency, competitiveness and good governance throughout the purchasing process.

Addressing the ceremony, Assistant Commissioner Dr Muhammad Hamid Siddiq stressed that maintaining cleanliness was a shared responsibility and urged the public to fully cooperate with WSSC in keeping the city clean.

Ali Amin Khan Gandapur said the provision of quality municipal and sanitation services was among the government’s top priorities. He said the newly acquired machinery would significantly improve sanitation services in the newly added union councils and help establish a modern and efficient waste management system.

He emphasised that public participation was essential for the success of cleanliness initiatives and urged citizens to actively support sanitation campaigns to make Dera Ismail Khan a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful city.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Chairman and CEO Naimat Ullah Khan Gandapur presented commemorative shields to chief guest Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, Assistant Commissioner Dr Muhammad Hamid Siddiq and Board Member Moeen Ahmad in recognition of their support and services.
