PSX remains bearish, loses over 718 points

ISLAMABAD, Jul 24 (APP):The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) remained in the red on Friday, shedding 718.25 points, a negative change of 0.42 percent, to close at 171,021.20 points against 171,739.45 points recorded on the previous trading day.
During the session, the ready market recorded a trading volume of 579.945 million shares with a traded value of Rs23.896 billion, compared to 525.122 million shares valuing Rs23.428 billion in the previous session. The market capitalization stood at Rs19.278 trillion, down from Rs19.361 trillion a day earlier.
Out of 492 active companies in the ready market, 186 advanced, 270 declined, and 36 remained unchanged.
Cnergyico PK led the volume chart with 59.328 million shares, followed by Trust Brokerage with 36.978 million shares and Kohinoor Spinning with 32.627 million shares.
The top gainers included PIA Holding Company LimitedB, which surged by Rs716.00 to close at Rs17,668.00, and Siemens (Pakistan) Engineering, which gained Rs61.22 to settle at Rs1,534.77.
On the losing side, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited declined by Rs237.00 to close at Rs25,011.00, while Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited fell by Rs122.79 to settle at Rs1,105.08.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover increased to 191.880 million shares with a traded value of Rs7.511 billion, compared to 156.959 million shares worth Rs6.357 billion in the previous session.
Out of 302 futures-market companies, 85 advanced, 214 declined, and three remained unchanged.
