ANF seizes 227.5 kg of drugs worth Rs 33.3 mln in nationwide operations

RAWALPINDI, Jul 23 (APP):The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted eight operations across the country, including around educational institutions and arrested six suspects, recovering 227.526 kilograms(kgs) of narcotics worth more than Rs 33.3 million, an ANF spokesman said on Thursday.
During operations near educational institutions, ANF recovered 1.2 kg of hashish from a vehicle near the Motorway Toll Plaza in Islamabad and arrested the suspect.
In another operation near the University of Peshawar on Ring Road, officials seized 600 grams of hashish from a suspect, who during initial interrogation confessed to supplying drugs to students of educational institutions.
In an international drug interdiction operation, ANF recovered 13.3 kg of opium soaked into a waistcoat from a parcel destined for Australia at a courier office on Airport Road, Karachi.
In Rawalpindi, officials recovered 40 grams of cannabinoid oil concealed in a bottle inside a parcel that had arrived from the United Kingdom at a courier office in Chaklala Garrison.
During domestic interdiction operations, ANF recovered 17 kg of methamphetamine (ice) concealed in crockery items from a parcel at a courier office in Karachi and arrested the suspect.
In another operation at a courier office on Ring Road, Peshawar, officials recovered 556 tablets weighing 368 grams concealed inside a cream jar.
Separately, ANF confiscated 180 kg of hashish concealed in an oil tanker near the Indus Highway in Kohat and arrested the suspect.
In an inter-provincial operation near the Nankana Sahib Toll Plaza, officials recovered 15 kg of heroin from a vehicle and arrested two suspects.
The spokesman said separate cases had been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and further investigations were underway.
