China delivers world’s fastest self-unloader
BEIJING, July 21 (APP):China on Tuesday delivered a self-discharging vessel capable of the world’s fastest speed of cargo self-unloading in east China’s Jiangsu Province, according to the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).
The 41,800-tonne vessel measures 215 meters in length, with a molded breadth of 42 meters and a maximum capacity of 29,000 cubic meters. Its self-discharging system is equipped with two bottom-mounted, reversible longitudinal belt conveyors, capable of unloading cargo independently from either side or simultaneously from both.
With a discharging rate of 12,000 tonnes per hour, the ship now ranks as the world’s fastest professional self-unloading carrier, CGTN reported.
This vessel is the first in a five-ship series ordered under the Simandou Iron Ore Project, all destined to operate in the waters off Guinea in West Africa. Once fully deployed, the fleet will serve as a logistics backbone, providing critical support for the stable production and transshipment of iron ore.
The Simandou Iron Ore Project is a key project in economic and trade cooperation between China and Guinea, and a significant achievement of the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
