Balochistan Information Commission holds awareness workshop on Right to Information Act

QUETTA, Jul 21 (APP): The Balochistan Information Commission organized a one-day awareness workshop on the Right to Information Act, bringing together representatives of civil society, students, and members of the legal fraternity.

Addressing the session, Commissioner Abdul Shakoor emphasized that the Right to Information law plays a fundamental role in promoting transparent, accountable, and citizen-friendly governance. He noted that providing timely access to official information is the responsibility of state institutions, adding that such access not only restores public trust but also strengthens the overall system of governance.

Abdul Shakoor announced that the Commission will continue to hold awareness programs across different districts of the province to ensure that more citizens are informed about their legal rights under the Act.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the Commissioner distributed certificates among participants and expressed hope that they would play an effective role in spreading the message of the Right to Information across diverse segments of society.

Participants welcomed the initiative, terming the awareness session a positive step, and praised the Commission’s ongoing efforts to promote the Right to Information law in Balochistan.
