Cop arrested after recovery of snatched motorcycle
KHANEWAL, Jul 20 (APP):A police constable posted at Tulamba police station has been suspended and taken into custody after a motorcycle snatched during a robbery was recovered during a police operation, officials said on Monday.
According to police, SHO Abdul Hakeem acted on a tip-off from an informer and recovered the motorcycle that had been reported snatched.
The constable Abu Bakar was taken into custody in accordance with legal procedures, while further investigation is underway.
District Police Officer (DPO) Khanewal Muhammad Abid immediately suspended the constable and ordered a regular departmental inquiry against him.
The DPO said no leniency would be shown towards any police official found involved in criminal activities, adding that such elements would be held accountable in accordance with the law.
He further directed that both the departmental inquiry and the criminal investigation be completed expeditiously on merit and in light of the available facts to ensure further legal action.
The law is equal for everyone, and all requirements of justice will be fulfilled without exception, the DPO added.
