ISLAMABAD, Jul 20 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have arrested two wanted members of a notorious dacoit gang involved in multiple robbery and street crime incidents, recovering looted cash, mobile phones and a weapon with ammunition used in the commission of crimes.
An official told APP on Monday that the arrests were made by the Industrial Area Police Station team during a targeted operation against criminal elements operating in the federal capital.
He said the police recovered looted cash, stolen mobile phones and an illegal weapon with ammunition from the possession of the arrested suspects. Cases had already been registered against the accused, while further investigation was underway to trace their accomplices and recover additional stolen property.
The official said the operation was carried out as part of the ongoing campaign launched on the directions of DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq to eliminate robbery, street crime and other serious criminal activities from the capital.
He said Islamabad Police had intensified intelligence-based operations and targeted raids across the city, leading to a significant decline in heinous crimes.
DIG Tariq directed all police officers to continue indiscriminate operations against robbers, dacoits and other criminal elements, stressing that those who deprive citizens of their lives and valuable belongings would be brought to justice.
