SIALKOT, Jul 20 (APP):Commissioner Gujranwala Division Muhammad Ali on Monday reviewed arrangements to tackle possible urban flooding during the ongoing monsoon season during a visit to Sialkot. Deputy Commissioner Awais Mushtaq and other senior officials accompanied him.
The commissioner inspected desilting operations and drainage arrangements at Nullah Bhed near Meg Town and Shell Chowk, directing the authorities to continue the work without interruption and ensure the timely drainage of rainwater from low-lying areas.
He also visited the Nasir Town Disposal Station to inspect its operational capacity, odour control system, pumping machinery and emergency preparedness before reviewing monitoring and coordination arrangements at the District Emergency Control Room established at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Ali said protecting the lives and property of citizens during the monsoon season remained the administration’s top priority.
He directed all relevant departments to remain on high alert, keep essential machinery fully operational and ensure a prompt response to any emergency
