University of Sindh Finalises Academic Roadmap for New Semester

HYDERABAD, Jul 20 (APP): The University of Sindh has finalised its academic roadmap for the upcoming semester, with a renewed focus on the timely declaration of examination results, improved student services and strict enforcement of attendance requirements to ensure a smooth commencement of classes after the summer vacation.

The decisions were taken at a meeting of the heads of departments of the Faculty of Arts, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Mari (TI) at the Video Conference Room of the Institute of English Language and Literature (IELL) on Monday.

According to the SU spokesperson Nadir Ali Mugheri, the meeting reviewed preparations for the academic session following the summer break and resolved to commence regular classes of the second semester immediately after the vacations conclude. Participants discussed measures aimed at strengthening academic discipline, improving teaching standards and ensuring the smooth conduct of the semester.

Addressing the meeting, VC Dr Fateh Mari briefed the department heads on key decisions taken at the university’s recent Syndicate meeting and said that the measures were designed to facilitate students and further enhance the quality of higher education at the institution.

He said the newly approved university budget had significantly increased allocations for student services, research and innovation, as well as entrepreneurship and start-up initiatives, reflecting the institution’s commitment to creating a dynamic academic environment.

“The University of Sindh remains fully committed to producing skilled graduates, promoting quality research and encouraging innovation among students and faculty members,” he said.

He directed all heads of departments and faculty members to ensure that semester examination results are submitted within the prescribed timeline, warning that unnecessary delays would not be tolerated.

Dr Mari also reiterated that the university’s policy requiring a minimum of 75 percent attendance in classes would continue to be implemented across all teaching departments without exception. He instructed faculty members to remain available in their offices until the close of official working hours each day to provide academic guidance and counseling to students.

He emphasized that maintaining academic discipline, ensuring timely completion of academic processes and strengthening interaction between teachers and students were essential for improving educational standards and enhancing the university’s academic reputation.

The meeting was attended by Dean, Faculty of Arts Prof Dr Muhammad Khan Sangi, Director of Institute of English Language and Literature Prof Dr Tarique Hassan Umrani, Director of Institute of Languages (Arabic and Persian) Dr Mufti Sahibzad Pitafi, Chairman Department of Sindhi Prof Dr Noor Muhammad Shah, Director Institute of Art and Design Prof Saeed Ahmed Mangi, Controller of Semester Examinations Muhammad Mashooque Siddiqui and other heads of academic departments.
