Wheelie doer arrested

City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) on Monday claimed to have arrested an accused of a wheeling gang during an ongoing crackdown against wheeling and reckless driving in the provincial capital.

LAHORE, Jul 20 (APP): City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) on Monday claimed to have arrested an accused of a wheeling gang during an ongoing crackdown against wheeling and reckless driving in the provincial capital.
According to a Traffic Police spokesperson, the suspect, identified as “AB Butt”, was arrested while allegedly performing wheelies on Defence Boulevard by a special team deployed in plain clothes.
He said the arrested suspect’s Instagram account and other digital evidence had been handed over to Lahore Police to help identify the absconding suspects and initiate legal proceedings against them.
The DSP said the suspect had uploaded hundreds of videos on his Instagram account showing alleged wheeling, dangerous stunts and reckless riding on public roads, adding that the footage would also form part of the investigation.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi said Lahore Traffic Police, in coordination with Lahore Police, would conduct door-to-door visits to habitual wheelers ahead of Independence Day celebrations to warn them against violating the law and discourage dangerous road activities.
The CTO said special teams had also been deployed on major roads, including CBD Boulevard, Defence Boulevard, Defence Phase-VI and Canal Road during weekend nights to take prompt action against individuals involved in wheeling, dangerous driving and hooliganism.
