Kohat expects major push in health, water supply, infrastructure projects

PESHAWAR, Jul 20 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa MPA and Chairman of the District Development Advisory Committee (DDAC) Kohat, Daud Shah Afridi, on Monday said the provincial government is implementing multi-billion-rupee development projects across the district to improve healthcare, education, drinking water, road infrastructure and employment opportunities.

Speaking during Pakhtunkhwa Radio Kohat’s online Awami Rabta programme, he said development funds were being allocated on the basis of equitable distribution to ensure that all parts of the district benefit from ongoing public sector initiatives.

He said the new A-Block of Liaquat Memorial Hospital is expected to be inaugurated on August 14, while the upgradation of KDA Hospital has been approved at a cost exceeding Rs1 billion to strengthen healthcare services.

Afridi said work on the expansion of the road connecting Kachehri Chowk and PAF Chowk would begin shortly, while the Rs2.23 billion Lachi Mega Drinking Water Supply Scheme would help resolve the area’s long-standing shortage of safe drinking water.

He said approval had also been granted for Jarma College, while construction and rehabilitation work on 93 roads was underway. In addition, a 36-kilometre road from Lachi to Warizhu Sam has also been approved to improve connectivity in the area.

The DDAC chairman said the government was also focusing on youth empowerment through technical education, skill development, support for the agriculture and livestock sectors, solarisation initiatives for farmers and the proposed green bus project.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to balanced development across Kohat and said public feedback would continue to play an important role in improving governance and ensuring the timely completion of development projects.
