DC directs departments to remain on high alert amid PDMA monsoon forecast

SARGODHA, Jul 20 (APP): Deputy Commissioner(DC),Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Monday directed all civic and emergency departments to remain on high alert after the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) forecast monsoon rains in the district from July 20 to 24.

According to an official spokesperson,DC instructed Rescue 1122, WASA, municipal authorities and other relevant departments to complete all precautionary arrangements in line with the PDMA advisory.

He directed officials to ensure that drains, storm-water channels and the drainage network remain fully functional to minimize the risk of urban flooding.

DC Hussain also ordered the Emergency Control Room to remain operational round the clock and asked all departments to maintain a high level of preparedness.

Rescue 1122 teams, machinery and other resources have been directed to remain on standby for immediate deployment.

He further ordered continuous monitoring of low-lying areas and directed officials to ensure a prompt response to any emergency arising from heavy rainfall.

Advising residents to exercise caution,Chaudhry urged them to avoid unnecessary travel near streams, drains, rainwater channels and waterlogged roads during the wet spell.

He also warned people to stay away from electricity poles, open manholes, low-lying areas and accumulated rainwater.

The deputy commissioner directed all departments to maintain close coordination to ensure an effective emergency response and urged citizens to cooperate with the district administration, Rescue 1122 and other relief agencies.
