The health authorities, Nasirabad district on Monday launched an awareness rally to mark the start of the Prime Minister’s Hepatitis C detection and treatment program, aimed at expanding free screening and treatment services across the district.
Hepatitis C awareness drive launched in Nasirabad with 12-day free screening campaign
DERA MURAD JAMALI , Jul 20 (APP): The health authorities, Nasirabad district on Monday launched an awareness rally to mark the start of the Prime Minister’s Hepatitis C detection and treatment program, aimed at expanding free screening and treatment services across the district.
The rally, led by Assistant Commissioner Chattar, Bashir Ahmed and District Health Officer, Dr. Ayaz Jamali, began at the District Health Office and culminated at the Civil Hospital, where free Hepatitis C screening was also conducted.
The participants carried banners and placards highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.
The initiative, supported by the efforts of Balochistan Irrigation Minister, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, is being implemented under the vision of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Jamali said the 12-day campaign aimed to screen approximately 190,000 people across the district for Hepatitis C.
He said 52 mobile teams had been deployed to conduct door-to-door screening in urban neighborhoods and rural communities.
He added that individuals, screening tests return positive would receive free PCR testing, treatment, and medicines in accordance with the government policy.
Assistant Commissioner, Bashir Ahmed said the district administration was working closely with the health department to improve access to essential healthcare services and ensure the successful implementation of the campaign.
A large number of health officials, political and religious leaders, and local residents participated in the rally.
