LAHORE, Jul 20 (APP):Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) dismantled an organized inter-district drug trafficking network during an intelligence-based operation in Lahore, arresting two key suspects, including a woman and recovering 24 kilograms of heroin, seven drones and a cache of sophisticated weapons.
According to a CNF spokesperson, the operation was conducted by teams of the Lahore Narcotics Control Station (NCS) in the Dhiyal village area falling under Batapur Police Station on the basis of credible intelligence.
The spokesperson said the arrested suspects were allegedly involved in supplying narcotics to different residential localities and areas surrounding educational institutions in Lahore.
He said the recovered heroin was estimated to be worth around Rs 36 million in the open market.
The spokesperson added that the raiding teams also recovered one SMG rifle along with six magazines and 377 rounds, one M4 rifle with a magazine, three pistols of 9mm and 30 bore, and more than 800 rounds of different calibres.
He said seven modern drones, including one heavy-duty drone allegedly used for aerial transportation and surveillance of narcotics, were also seized during the operation. Batteries, chargers and other technical equipment used for drone operations were also taken into custody.
Punjab CNF Director General Brig Mazhar Iqbal said the successful operation had not only resulted in the seizure of a large consignment of narcotics but had also disrupted the supply chain of an organized drug trafficking network operating in Lahore.
The DG said the CNF was continuing intelligence-based operations across the province against drug traffickers and their facilitators under a zero-tolerance policy while ensuring the effective enforcement of anti-narcotics laws through the use of modern technology.
