Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Assembly elects Darwesh Ullah Arif as Chief Minister

PESHAWAR, Jul 20 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Assembly has elected its new cabinet, with Darwesh Ullah Arif of the Khidmat (Service) Party securing 93 votes to become the Chief Minister.

According to the official results announced after voting during the assembly session, Ms. Noorul Huda Shah of the Jasba Party was elected Speaker after securing 66 votes.

Abdul Rahim of the Khidmat Party was elected Deputy Speaker with 68 votes, winning the closely contested election by a margin of two votes.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Assembly serves as a platform to promote democratic values, leadership skills and civic engagement among young people by providing them with first hand experience of parliamentary procedures and public policymaking.

Speaking after his election, Chief Minister Darwesh Ullah Arif thanked the assembly members for reposing confidence in his leadership and pledged to work for the welfare and empowerment of the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, he said his focus would on creating livelihood opportunities for young people by promoting their participation in development sectors, particularly information technology.

Participants expressed hope that the newly elected cabinet would work to amplify youth voices and contribute to initiatives aimed at the social and economic development of the province.

Following the election, the newly elected office-bearers took the oath of office and formally assumed their responsibilities.
