ISLAMABAD, Jul 19 (APP):Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Sunday said July 19, 1947, marked a golden chapter in the history of the Kashmiri people.
In his message on Youm-e-Ilhaq-e-Pakistan, the minister said the people of Jammu and Kashmir had expressed their collective aspirations by adopting the historic resolution in favour of accession to Pakistan.
He said the relationship between Kashmir and Pakistan was not merely based on geography but was rooted in a shared history, culture and religion.
He added that the bond between Kashmir and Pakistan reflected the aspirations of the people.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the Kashmiri people had kept their struggle for the right to self-determination alive through countless sacrifices over the decades.
He said that despite Indian oppression and repression, the resolve of the Kashmiri people and their desire for freedom remained unwavering.
The minister reiterated that Pakistan would continue its moral, political and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people’s legitimate right to self-
determination.
He said Pakistan supported a just and lasting resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
