Pakistan Railways emerging as symbol of reform,modernization:Hanif Abbasi

LAHORE, Jul 19 (APP): Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi on Sunday said Pakistan Railways was emerging as a symbol of reform, modernization and improved public service delivery under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad (PM), Shehbaz Sharif.

In a statement, he said the Prime Minister’s unwavering focus on performance, transparency and public welfare has paved the way for transforming Pakistan Railways along modern lines, ensuring that the benefits of reforms reach every citizen.

The minister expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister (CM), Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her continued support in improving the railway sector.

He said that under the Chief Minister’s “Suthra Punjab” campaign, railway stations across Punjab are being upgraded with improved cleanliness standards and better passenger facilities.

Hanif Abbasi said that, with the cooperation of the Punjab government, eight of the province’s busiest railway corridors were being revived through modern multiple-unit trains to enhance public transport services.

He added that the deployment of staff at 117 railway level crossings has significantly improved operational efficiency, enhanced passenger convenience and strengthened safety measures to protect precious human lives.

The Railways Minister also appreciated CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s commitment to restoring and preserving the historic railway stations at Taxila, Rawalpindi, Bhera and Lahore, saying the initiative would help safeguard Pakistan’s rich railway heritage while integrating it with a modern and digital future.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Abbasi said Pakistan Railways would continue its efforts to modernize the rail network, strengthen national connectivity, support economic growth and provide safe, efficient, affordable and dignified travel facilities to passengers across the country.
