Accountability will continue, defends petrol pricing policy: Barrister Aqeel Malik

ISLAMABAD, Jul 18 (APP):Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik said on Saturday that on the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government is running a strong campaign against corruption and no one will be given any concessions in this regard.
He warned that those trying to obstruct this campaign are being closely watched. Speaking to a private TV channel, he said the government is fully committed to ensuring transparency and accountability.
He added that this campaign to eliminate corruption will continue effectively at all levels. He also stressed that the government is actively working to solve public problems and improve the country’s overall social and economic situation.
On a question about petrol prices, the minister said that petroleum prices are mainly linked to global market trends and the regional political and security situation.
However, he urged the public to focus on practical suggestions for setting prices instead of creating confusion. He said the Petroleum Division carefully reviews all relevant economic factors before making any decision.
He further said that petrol prices in Pakistan are still more reasonable compared to India and Bangladesh. This, he said, shows the government’s balanced and responsible economic management.
